Erin came into the living room yesterday holding up a sopping wet paper towel. She said to me, "Mom, look! The commercial was right! The quilted pockets are holding in the water. I walked from the sink to the trash can and it didn't drip once! Daddy says commercials are a scam to get you to buy stuff but this Bounty really works!"

There was a request for an update on my rib pain (Thanks for that, Geena!). I am still in limbo. I went to the doctor for the second opinion. He spent 5 minutes reading the results from all of my tests. Then he asked me a bunch of questions and did the exam. Then he stood back and looked at me and said, 'Susan, can you give me a more difficult patient to diagnose today, please?' I said, 'That's the story of my last 6 months.' He pretty much said the same as all the others - there's something wrong but he doesn't know what. Yeah, great, thanks. He wrote a prescription for the pain (even though I told him I was on Oxycontin). He said to try this and they might be able to wean me off of the Oxy. He wants to give it another month to heal before doing anything. He thinks the rib was injured and just isn't healing properly. He thinks it might heal in another month. Pfft. That's how I feel about waiting - I've already been waiting since August.
So, the next day I went to the pain center. I told them about seeing the other doctor and the prescription he wrote for Neurontin. The pain doctor said that was a good idea and to give it a try. He didn't ask the dosage so I volunteered it, 'He put me on 300 mg, three times a day.' The pain center doc reacted with, 'OH NO! Don't take that much!' He said you need to build up to that level. If I took that much at first I'd start twitching. He found that out by prescribing that same dosage for himself and a patient at the same time. The patient came in to see him and said he was twitching. The doctor said he looked down and both of them were twitching like crazy. I'm glad I told him the dosage - I'd have been freaking out if I started twitching! The pain doctor asked about the Thoracic Surgeon so I told him that guy refused to make me an appointment because he deals with organs and my organs are fine. So, now he wants me to go to an orthpedic doctor for a biopsy. God, I hate that word. Of course, if it's normal it will really help me sleep better at night. If it's not, I'd rather know sooner rather than later... So, I called Friday and left a message and they didn't call back.

On the weather front... We have 6 inches of snow and it's still falling. The kids are in Heaven - no school and a new sled they want to send on its virgin run.
